Welcome:
Howe Avenue Access is located down river from California State University, Sacramento and near Highway 50. Despite its closeness to the road, the river’s clay banks and riverside vegetation give it a wild feel.
Fast Facts:
- Here, the multi-use trail joins with a flood-control levee, giving a first-hand look at the measures Sacramento must take to keep the river in its banks, and some of County Parks’ unique partnerships.
How to Get There:
Howe Avenue is easy to access from U.S. Highway 50. Simply take the Howe Ave. off-ramp and head north. Turn right immediately onto La Riviera Drive. Follow the La Riviera off-ramp straight to the park’s entrance.

- The Jedediah Smith Memorial Multi-use Trail snakes along just across the Howe Avenue bridge from the Access, which offers restroom facilities and a drinking fountain to weary riders
