The Aftershock and Golden Sky music festivals are coming to Discovery Park on Thursday, Oct. 5 – Sunday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15, respectively. The American River Parkway Multi-Use (Bike) Trail will remain open for the general public to use and enjoy, though delays may occur. A slight trail detour will be in place starting Sept. 26 and will continue through about Oct. 20 for the safety of our trail users. The archery range and park through-road will also be closed to allow for large equipment and trucks to set up for the event. The Vehicle detour would be Interstate 5 or Northgate/Highway 160. The boat launch ramp area will stay open during the setup and tear-down of the events but will be closed for the duration of the Aftershock event. It will be open during the Golden Sky event.
The Department of Regional Parks is in the process of updating its Fee Schedule. The Department Fee Schedule establishes fees for park entry and facility use, and describes fee policies. The Fee Schedule is updated intermittently to: Adjust fees for inflation; ensure fees cover costs of services provided; standardize fees with similar facilities and services; and raise needed revenues to offset department maintenance and operations costs. To see how proposed entrance and annual pass fees compare to current fees, visit the Park Entrance Fees page. Vehicle and Trailer Day Use Fees are proposed to increase by $1; Annual Pass fees are proposed to increase by $10; Senior Citizen Annual Passes are proposed to increase by $5; and there is no change proposed to Low Income Annual Passes. A draft of the updated Fee Schedule can be found online. To make a comment on the proposed Fee Schedule, email parksinfo@saccounty.gov. Public comments will be accepted through Oct. 15, 2023.
