Sacramento County Regional Parks COVID-19 Response

The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks is here to provide safe and accessible park spaces for residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parks and golf courses within the Sacramento County Regional Parks system will remain open, as the Public Health Order allows residents to engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements.

Please remember that the point of this Public Health Order is to have people stay at home as much as possible, but as people utilize parks for essential outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, bicycling and equestrian activities while this Order is in place, we ask they maintain a social distance of at least six feet, avoid congregating in groups and wash their hands as often as possible.

To the extent possible, restrooms will remain open during normal park operating hours.

Updated Guidance for Use of Face Coverings

On June 19, the Sacramento County Public Health Officer amended the Public Health Order to require the use of face coverings in high-risk situations.

Per the State’s guidance, face coverings should be worn while outdoors in public spaces when maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet from persons who are not members of the same household or residence is not feasible.

We ask that residents read the Public Health Order to fully understand what is and is not currently allowed, so that they can make the best, safest decisions for themselves. The Public Health Order also gives information on what types of face coverings are acceptable and who may be exempt from the mandate.

What is social distancing?

Social Distancing is defined in the Public Health Order as:

  • Maintaining at least six-foot social distancing from individuals who are not part of the same household or living unit
  • Frequently washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or using hand sanitizer that is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as effective in combatting COVID-19
  • Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or fabric or, if not possible, into the sleeve or elbow (but not into hands)
  • Avoiding all social interaction outside the household when sick with a fever or cough.
  • We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you for helping us limit the spread of COVID-19 throughout our community.
